Cart Collection system
Jun 25th, 2010 by kingsmillhoa
The City of Melbourne is implementing a new cart collection system beginning in October 2010. Two wheeled carts will be delivered to homeowners, with one 96 gallon cart to be dedicated to garbage and the other 64 gallon cart for ALL materials to be recycled. Customers have the option of requesting a 64 gallon cart for their garbage if they put in a request in advance.
Customers will use any container that they previously used for their yard trash. The old recycling bins may either be kept or may be put into the new recycling cart for disposal.
Pickup schedules will also be modified with this information being provided to customers when the new carts are delivered.
The City of Melbourne may be contacted at 727-2900 for further information or their website may be accessed at www.melbourneflorida.org.
Home, sidewalk and driveway maintenance
May 12th, 2010 by kingsmillhoa
Summer is in full swing in Florida and along with the heat comes the home maintenance issues that must be dealt with by all homeowners. Along with the trimming or removal of dead trees or foilage from our unusual winter freezes, there is the mowing, edging, weed eating, etc that we have to attend to in order to maintain a pleasing appearance, not only to the neighbors but to prospective buyers.
One issue that has been noted is that many of the homes in our neighborhood are in need of having the sidewalks and driveways cleaned and maintained. Rust stains, mold and mildew have permeated the sidewalks and driveways and gives an unsightly appearance. It is being suggested that homeowners have their sidewalks and driveways pressure washed and cleaned in order to improve the look and value of the home.
A pressure washer can be rented at a local home improvement store or a pressure washing company can be hired to do the work for the homeowner. There are many companies listed in the phone book that can be contracted to do the work. One such company, Randalls Pressure Washing, is a local company whose owner lives in the Kingsmill Neighborhood. They give free estimates and can be reached at 243-4280 or 259-8356.
Please take some time to look over your home and take care of any maintenance issues that need addressing. Please remember that any changes to the exterior of your home, i.e. painting your home, fencing, pools, driveway modifications, etc need approval from the Architectural Review Board. Applications for such changes can be found our our website and can be submitted to Suzanne Kvasnok, the ARC director.
